Bereavement Care Services

Our care does not end when a loved one has passed. It continues on with the family to provide comfort and support through the difficult process of grief. It is essential that the family members have a healthy mourning experience, so the Deaconess Hospice team remain available to insure that experience for those family members and caregivers.

Spiritual and Emotional Support: The Bereavement Care Coordinator contacts the family immediately after their loved one has passed away and the family is made aware of the bereavement care services that are available to them. This service can include telephone visits, personal visits, grief counseling, or connecting them to a support group that is available in the area. Cards, letters, and reading material are also provided to give comfort and encouragement along this journey.

Community Involvement: Deaconess Hospice extends their bereavement services to the community as well. The Bereavement Care Coordinator, as well as other team members, are available to teach or speak at workshops, community sponsored events, and to provide counseling and care in the event of a community crisis where grief and loss may be a concern.
